The OBOR of Malaysia was established in 2015.

The aim of this association is to integrate resources from various sectors including enterprises, media, and related institutions from countries along the Belt and Road. The focus lies on facilitating cross-disciplinary, cross-sectoral, and cross-regional cooperation. Grounded in the Belt and Road Initiative, and guided by the mission of preserving Chinese culture, the association showcases scenarios closely related to people's lives, such as roots exploration, trade and commerce, gastronomy, tourism, etc. These are depicted through visual mediums, presenting authentic experiences of Chinese people along the Belt and Road. It aims to vividly portray their unwavering commitment, endeavors, and endeavors while promoting the positive energy of peaceful coexistence and harmony. Furthermore, the association promotes international exchanges to foster the development of relevant enterprises, organizations, and facilitate people-to-people interactions among countries along the Belt and Road. In 2015, the One Belt One Road Economic Friendship Association was initiated and founded in Malaysia.

The Objectives of OBOR Association

1. The OBOR association aims to leverage Malaysia's unique multiculturalism and geographical advantage and harness the historical symbolism of the ancient Silk Road, along with the strategic regional advantage of being a pivotal country in the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road. It aims to effectively integrate political resources of Belt and Road countries, powerful networking resources of entrepreneurs, focusing on the theme of economic cooperation. It seeks to create a comprehensive, three-dimensional, and highly accurate cooperation mechanism based on the idea of "harmony in diversity". The aim is to create the most advantageous and competitive conditions for governments of relevant countries and international member enterprises, thereby gradually achieving more efficient and profound connectivity ranging from policies, facilities, funds, trade, to the sentiments of the people.

2. Since its establishment, the OBOR association has been committed to bridging the friendship between Malaysia and ASEAN member countries with China. This endeavor is in line with the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community and resonates with China's Belt and Road Initiative. It represents the inevitable path towards global economic integration and is consistent with the widely recognized concept of "Community Of Shared Future for Mankind".

3. The association upholds the banner of "Sharing the Power of Connectivity", aiming to jointly create bilateral and multilateral cooperation platforms encompassing various sectors such as economic and trade negotiations, cultural exchanges, engineering development, healthcare, and education among government bodies, relevant organizations, enterprises, and individuals from various societal sectors. The association's slogan emphasizes the power of shared connectivity. It adheres to the principles of mutual consultation, construction, and sharing, promoting cultural exchanges, fostering free trade, showcasing Eastern wisdom, and facilitating international cooperation. It advocates the philosophy of peace, cooperation, seeking common ground while shelving differences, striving to achieve high standards, sustainable goals that cater to people's livelihoods, and promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

To leverage its organizational strength to achieve resource sharing, interactive integration, and coordinated development. Its core lies in resource connectivity, strategic alignment, development assistance, and further participation in international exchanges and multilateral trade, innovating and perfecting institutional systems, exploring paths for common development, promoting free flow of factors, efficient allocation of resources, and deep market integration for shared connectivity.


The Goal of OBOR Association

to promote the construction of an external economic cooperation institution based on the market and led by enterprises. It aims to increase investments in relevant projects, attracting more entities to engage in investment and cooperation in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.
