Dr Hew Kuan Yau
Dr Hew Kuan Yau was born in Malaysia in 1970. He received his Ph.D from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in History Studies. Dr Hew is the Honorary Curator of the Asia Comic Cultural Museum since March 2016, a non-profit organization (NPO) owned by the Penang state Government.
On 24th October 2019, he resigned as the chief executive officer of the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC) over his role in the ‘Belt and Road Initiative for Win-Winism’ comic book controversy.Dr Hew joined the Democratic Action Party (DAP) at the age of 19. He was the Director of the Political Education of the DAP, General Secretary of the DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY), Vice President of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), Political Secretary to the Parliamentary Opposition Leader YB Lim Kit Siang, Political Secretary to the DAP Secretary General YB Kerk Kim Hock, Editor of the DAP party organ “The Rocket”(Mandarin version) and Senior Lecturer of the DAP Social Democracy Academy.Although Dr Hew has resigned from the DAP in July 2016, he still maintains a harmonious and cooperative relationship with the party.
He is one of the most vigorous speakers of the party and enjoys the reputation of "superman".He is also an outspoken activist in the Malaysian social and political movement, well-known for his oratory skills and political cartoons.Together with a few friends, Dr Hew co-founded Comic Studio in 1989. Since then, he has a total of 12 publications under his belt, including 8 political comic books and 4 political commentaries.
Professor Dong Wei Li
"Professor Dong Wei Li is currently a Ph.D. student at the Communication University of China, specializing in brand assets and brand experience. He completed his undergraduate studies at Raffles College and Sheffield Hallam University, earning an Honors Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering. Additionally, he holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Communication University of China.
Professor Dong Wei Li has held various roles in the past, including serving as a Project Manager for European and American clients at Beijing Jiuwu Zhijia, Assistant Manager of Zhongchuan Borui Education, and an internship as an engineer at the U.S. Beilashi. These positions have provided him with diverse experiences in working overseas, enhancing his communication and adaptability skills. His exposure to different cultures has given him a deeper understanding of global perspectives. His work experience and education in China have equipped him with effective communication skills for interactions with individuals from both Chinese and international backgrounds.
Professor Dong Wei Li has been honored with notable awards, including the Chinese Ministry of Education's full scholarship for Ph.D. research, the Second Prize in the 'Jingwei Cup' 2014 Entrepreneurship Competition at the Communication University of China, and consecutive annual scholarships from Malaysia's Raffles College. Additionally, he has achieved the titles of Competent Communicator and Competent Leader from the TOASTMASTERS International Speech Club."
